Mooncrap Festival

So the Mid-Autumn or “Mooncake” Festival was on Wednesday.

Did you have some mooncakes?

I was in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday and was given some really nice mooncakes – the traditional kind – by my colleagues.

When I say “traditional” Vietnamese mooncakes I’m referring to mooncakes as the Vietnamese know them traditionally. In Vietnam, mooncakes can contain even tiny bits of roast chicken!

Still they are not as bizarre as the mooncakes you would find in Singapore nowadays!

Give me the traditional mooncake anytime, none of those durian or chocolate shit please. This year’s weirdest “mooncake” must be those “ginseng bamboo charcoal mooncakes” – there’s one in the picture below. Gosh, what will they come up with next?
