No More Daily Posts from Now On

Ah, 2011 is here.

Time to wind down, take stock, relax, catch some Zs.

From now on, I won’t be blogging daily.

Got lots to do.

I ended 2010 with a huge backlog of unfinished business.

Well, maybe not that bad.

After all, Viktor Frankl said that those who survived Auschwitz were those who had something significant yet to do in their future.

I’m not in Auschwitz although often I feel trapped in this world.

It’s worse than being in a concentration camp actually.

Oh how I wish for some changes – new environment, new colleagues, anything new, really.

I feel increasingly like a prisoner in a world I’m extremely dissatisfied with.

I don’t want to continue to suffer from a general sense of ennui.

So I’m seriously gonna try to get some things done this year.

First off, there are so many new places to visit – this year, I’ll be going to Cuba, Stonehenge and North Korea, among other new destinations, with my new Leicas.

Yup, got myself another two more Leicas last month.

Plus there are lots of places I want to revisit – London, New York, parts of Australia and New Zealand as well as Seoul, Tokyo, Chiang Rai, etc.

Other places beckon: the Pyrenees, Port Douglas, the Daintree Eco Lodge & Spa, Aspen, Martha’s Vineyard, Bhutan, Milford Sound, Petra, Okinawa, Israel, Montenegro, Buenos Aires, Istanbul, the Four Seasons tented resort at the Golden Triangle, Mount Annupuri in Sapporo, Santorini, Munich, the Seychelles, Song Saa, Luxor, fox hunting in England and wild boar hunting in Germany, Amanwana on Moyo Island, Machu Picchu, Londolozi,  Puget Sound and its 100 million geoducks waiting for me, etc.

Need to catch up with some long overdue stuff as well.

Going to spend a lot of time in meditation and in introspection.

Away from noisy and nosy people.

Seriously, at my age, I want to be free from encumbrances.

No, obsequium’s not for me!

Next, I’m going to accept the invitation from La Confrérie du Sabre d’Or –  I have long been disillusioned with the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs here in Singapore and the snooty wannabes and cliques that dominate it, cliques who try to keep everyone else out.

I have no time for those who rather wallow in their own mediocrity and get cooked in their own juice.

Understatement: I don’t suffer fools gladly.

(But I do gladly make fools suffer.)

I’m also going to attempt to do a Burning Man event before I become way too “uncle-rized” for it.

In addition to all that, there are several piles of books waiting to be read, stacks of Blu-ray discs waiting to be watched.

A couple more books to write and at least seven more short stories to complete.

Maybe pick up a law degree as well.

And perhaps a qualification in complementary and alternative medicine.

Sigh, so much to do, so little time.

I probably can’t do all that in one year.

But I know my place in the world and I’m going to it.

The Shéhérazade has to unfold.

Better not procrastinate further.

But for those of you faithful friends, readers, fans and stalkers who have been following me for the past ten years, fret not.

I’ll still be around.

And I will continue to  blog.

Just not religiously on a daily basis, that’s all.

But still, regularly.

Hard to shut me up ok?

So, as Mae West said “Why don’t you come up sometime and see me?”

In the meantime, my friend, here’s my wish for you, for 2011:

Lose weight, eat well, get rich, live life fully, and get laid!

Above all, carpe diem and be happy!
