Hemingway and Cuba

El Floridita.

My visit to the cigar festival was a flop but don’t get me wrong; Cuba in and of itself, is quite a nice place, really. Places like the so-called Hemingway bar more than made up for the unpleasant Habanos festival.

American author Ernest Hemingway was a regular at Bodeguita del Medio and the Dos Hermanos where he drank Mojitos, and at El Floridita where he helped create the Daiquiri.

El Floridita – the cradle of the Daiquiri – exudes a fin-de-siècle ambiance:

Daiquiris being made.

The man himself.

Mojitas can be found everywhere as well.
