The Obedient Wives Club was started by a fringe Muslim group earlier this month in Malaysia.
The club is the brainchild of Global Ikhwan Sdn Bhd – an organization made up of ex-members of an Islamic group called Al-Arqam, the same bunch of jokers behind the Ikhwan Polygamy Club which created headlines two years ago.
The club’s founders say domestic violence and prostitution could be prevented by teaching women to keep their men happy in the bedroom.
They say wives should be better than first-class prostitutes.
That way, husbands are less likely to screw some other women or become violent.
(The logic of the illogical is that sexually fulfilled husbands won’t go around bashing their wives, you see.)
(Hmm, I wonder if men really go around bashing their wives when they are not satisfied by their wives’ performance in bed?)
(Hmm, I wonder if wives should be entitled to the same privilege if their husbands fail to rise to the occasion?)
The message of The Obedient Wives Club is that wives must be obedient, and obedient wives must improve their sexual techniques, because it pleases their husbands and, this in turn, will also make God happier, and all good wives should strive to make God happy.
“Hey hon, want to make God happy? Good, go down on your knees and do a Linda Lovelace!”
Sex lessons to help wives serve their husbands better than first-class prostitutes will be among the courses provided by the club.
(Hmm, I wonder how supposedly religious people do their research to determine what is the performance level of first-class prostitutes?)

Human rights groups and religious officials have dismissed the club as an insult to both men and women.
Malaysia’s minister for women’s affairs – who’s a woman – says the club is giving Malaysia a bad image. When she visited Kazakhstan recently she was asked if women in Malaysia had rights and whether they were being turned into slaves by their husbands.
Yup, the club is sending out all kinds of wrong messages.
And now three Singaporeans are planning to start a similar club here.
In this day and age, it’s hard to believe that there are still Neanderthal-like people from the stone age among us.
These troglodytes are too dumb for me to insult, really.
This is 2011 for Pete’s sake. Obedience is NOT an equation in modern marriages.
Trust and mutual respect, yes, but obedience, no.
