A friend saw a photo of me with a cane and he WhatsApped me.
Friend: How come you on walking stick? Oh dear, I hope you are okay.
Me: I have been hobbling with a cane since February due to osteoarthritis of my left hip.
Friend: Wear and tear due to aging process. Sigh. Yes, it’s a sign of aging.
Me: Degeneration of the left hip.
Friend: As we grow old, we can’t escape any of these osteoarthritis or osteoporosis, Parkinson’s disease and dementia. Some seniors kena 2 or 3 instead of one of the three illnesses. Lots of them ended in nursing homes or rehabilitation centres.
Me: Thanks for sharing such positive insights.
Friend: Another headache is incontinence of bladder or bowel. The muscles too weak due to aging process. Sigh.
Me: Thanks for making me feel so cheerful.
I ended the chat.
I mean, what’s the point, right?
(By the way, I’ve weaned myself off that cane since November 1st.)
