So ex-Malaysian prime minister Najib (Trump’s “favorite prime minister”) was sent to jail yesterday (in his Savile Row suit, riding in a limo, with police outriders, no less).
His case, involving the movement of 42 million ringgit (US$9.4 million) from former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International to his personal accounts, resulted in a 12-year sentence and a massive 210 million ringgit (US$47 million) fine. (Besides his conviction, Najib also faces four more trials directly related to 1MDB.)
The idiots in the region are calling it a triumph of Lady Justice.
I understand their jubilation; this is a region where those in power are always defanging the judiciary.
Marcos, Suharto, Arroyo and others have always been putting those they place into courts in their pockets. Presidents and prime ministers of the region meeting their chief justices clandestinely to plan their duplicitous acts is a known fact.
So, if you are one of those goondus who are celebrating “the triumph of justice” and heralding “the magnificence of democracy” I have news for you, my stupid friend.
(Hey dungu, that’s me shaking my head at your brainlessness!)
Do you really think Najib is going to languish in jail?
Najib – born in Pahang – has a seat on Sultan Abdullah of Pahang’s council of four trusted advisers. Sultan Abdullah just so happens to also be the current king of Malaysia – a post that is shared among the country’s nine sultans with a new king being appointed every five years.
The king in May hosted Najib and his horrendous pig of a wife (alongside other top office holders) for dinner at the National Palace in Kuala Lumpur.
Yup, a convicted criminal having dinner with the king.
Amazing, ain’t it?
Only in Malaysia.
Malaysia boleh!
Experts say it indicates that Najib remains in the monarch’s good graces.
So there’s his escape route!
The potential for a royal pardon from Malaysia’s king is great.
You still celebrating?
