The Casualty

The giant floating Jumbo Restaurant in Hong Kong has gone fart after 46 years.

The world’s largest floating restaurant, loud and garish, was towed away in mid-June, another casualty of the pandemic. It capsized a few days later. (People in the know think it was probably a deliberate act to sink it, and then claim insurance.)

More than 30 million guests have visited, including Queen Elizabeth; it served passable Chinese food but it was a sight to behold – especially at night – and it has appeared in numerous movies.

Now only the pictures and the memories remain.
